OUR Story

The Namken Family: Cole, Sara, Jane and 3-legged rescue fur baby Avocado aka “Ava”

Hi, I’m Sara! I’ve been a practicing registered dietitian since 2006, working in an assortment of different settings from a nationally ranked top 10 hospital, to teaching at a university, and finally landing a position as an outpatient dietitian working at a health and wellness facility (which, if you had asked me in 2006, was my dream job).

THROUGH ALL OF THESE EXPERIENCES, I LEARNED THAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT NUTRITION EDUCATION.

After having my daughter and going back to work full-time, weekend meal planning and prepping quickly became a staple in our lives. Of course I didn’t love spending 4-8 hours each Sunday in the kitchen prepping food for the week, but like most people, if we didn’t have healthy food readily available we were more likely to reach for junk. So, I made it a point to meal plan and prep every. single. weekend. And you know what? I actually liked it. It allowed me to help the people I care about the most (my family) with their nutrition in a way that gave me immediate gratification that often times was lacking in my work as a clinical dietitian.

My vision with Namken Nutrition is to continue to help individuals with nutrition in two ways:

  • First, I want to provide my community with convenient, fresh, balanced, and nutritious meals that are also delicious. These meals will not follow a specific “diet.” You’ll see me call meals “paleo-ish” or “keto” or something similar. For myself and many of the clients I’ve counseled, strict adherence to any one “diet” isn’t sustainable for long-term. It’s super sad to think, “I’ll never be able to eat ________ again.” That’s a recipe for disaster and sets us up for failure. Our “diet” should NOT cause us anxiety. Period. The meals I sell will generally be lower in carbs and higher in protein when compared to the traditional American diet. What you won’t find is loaves of bread, mountains of cheese, or heaps of added sugar. What you will find is healthy fats like avocado oil, lean proteins like chicken breast, complex carbs like sweet potatoes, and non-starchy veggies like broccoli.

Need a meal plan? I got you. Need help figuring out your personalized macros? I got you. Need an accountability partner to help you stay on track? I got you.

  • Which brings me to my next point. Not only do I want to cook for you, I want to TEACH you how you can do it for you and your family. Educating others about nutrition is one of my most favorite things ever which is why I also offer nutrition consulting. Need a meal plan? I got you. Need help figuring out your personalized macros? I got you. Need an accountability partner to help you stay on track? I got you. Sure, you could probably find someone online who isn’t a registered dietitian to help you with these things, but I can guarantee that person did not spend six years of their life studying nutrition. Guess what? I did! AND I get my continuing education hours every year to remain licensed which means I stay on top of new research in the field.

    I GOT YOU.
